From Central Command

Dope House Soldiers:

What’s going on? These are some general updates for you about where we are with things for the snippet campaign. As you all know, the date is fast approaching for the start of the campaign. The launch date for our operations is September 20, and we need everyone to be on tap for their respective cities.

Alex has done a great job of organizing our teams across the country, and we know many of you are prepared to do whatever it takes to make this campaign a success. Here’s something to think about too, and that is the fact that this won’t be a one-time effort. We are organizing things to keep our team in place for a long, long time. So this is the first of many big efforts we, as a unified group of fans, is going to take part in.

I am attaching in this email some code that you can use to promote the snippet and snippet campaign online when as we get closer to launch time. If you copy and paste the following code:

<a href=http://www.thedopehousearmy.com><img src=http://www.thedopehousearmy.com/snippro.jpg></a>

Use this code to paste the following banner in your emails, messages to friends on MySpace or other social networks, and forums talking about the new album. Anywhere on the internet you frequent, paste the heck out of this banner. I’ll be creating other banners for the promo, and you are welcome to submit your own as well.

I also have some good news concerning shirts. For those of you who are part of a team leader’s crew, we have a preliminary order of about 350 shirts for the street team in various sizes. The new design will be able to be viewed in the next couple of days. It’s a simple but effective design which I think everyone will be pleased with.

For those of you who are team leaders, we will be sending you information on setting up events in your areas, and even if you are solo in an area, there are still plenty of things to be done. Remember, the most important aspect of this whole campaign is that we are working together as a family to make sure this happens.

We are counting on each and every one of you, and are blessed to have you as part of the team.

So let’s keep pushing, friends.

We start soon.

Long Time Comin'

Well, well, Dope House Soldiers, bet you thought I'd gone and disappeared. Not so! We've just been really busy behind the scenes getting things ready for this snippet campaign. If you have been in contact with Smiley these past few weeks, you know how busy we've been with all this stuff. I've got a little something to share with all of you, and this is the artwork for the actual disc cover of the snippet. This is what it's going to look like.

Looks good, doesn't it? Yeah, we thought you'd like it too.

So, yeah, everyone. That's what's good. The snippet goes to manufacturing next week, we will
have t-shirts available soon, and can't wait to get out and start working with all the fans. Expect to
start seeing event listings here in the next few weeks as our promotional leaders start to get everything in place for the start of the snippet campaign. We are going to do this bigger than it's
ever been done before, and it will all be done with the help of the fans.

We're ready.

See you soon, Dope House fans.

Building the Team

So, yeah, it's been awhile since we've had a blog update for the Army, but it's Friday and I feel like we owe you guys some news. If you haven't heard from us in awhile, there's a good reason for it. We're putting together our team leaders for select cities around the nation. If we've been in touch with you, great! Remember that we've chosen our team of leaders for a reason.

So here's the way it's going to work. On Monday or Tuesday, we will be announcing our team leaders and main cities. From there, Soldiers in those respective cities can get in contact with the team leaders we have selected and we'll take it from there. So far, we're at about 60% on the team leaders, and we expect to have the entire list completed by Monday.

In other news, we have the official launch date for the snippet campaign. Get your calendars ready because we are plastering the U.S. on SEPTEMBER 20, 2008. So if you are out and about on that weekend, be prepared. We are going to be getting ready to work.

Just a short update for now. I'll have more for ya soon!

Hey Fans, I Got My Hands On One of SPM's Letters To His Music Team! Check It Out!

What's up, Soldiers? I intercepted this letter from SPM to his music production team. It's got a lot of great ideas about upcoming projects and other things that the Dope House crew is working on. Read on for info about what we've got planned after "The Last Chair Violinist" drops! This is some good reading!

------------------------------

Ello,

Fellow loftonians, it’s always nice to be writing you. All is well over here in what many call the cement jungle. Although the unit I’m on isnt’ really a jungle at all. This is the safest prison in Texas. A lot of people call it an old folks home, because about seventy percent of the inmates are in their seventies, or in wheel chairs, or just physically challenged.

I hope you’re doing well. We’ve moved our release back to November the Eighteenth. I kind of fizzled out on the artwork. I was waiting for someone to light a fire under my butt, and it didn’t happen. I forgot, I’ve got to be my own motivator. Time just flies in prison and you can find yourself listening to the radio for two weeks straight, getting out of bed to eat and the other word and not much else. I just want to apologize to you for that. But now I’m getting all this artwork stuff done. I’m thinking we’re going to give away a free shirt on our CD insert. Something that people can cut out and send to us (with $4.25 for shipping and handling) and we send them a gree “Gangsterous” shirt. Other than that, I’m going to have an entire one side of the artwork (12 panels) of something I’m calling “My Photo Album.” It’s going to have pictures of… Well, pictures that I have over there. I’ve sent a bunch of pictures home, some that I wish I had now, but I’ve got enough over here to make a decent impact.

Well, we’ve got a little more time to tweek “TLCV” but I’m sure we’re done and won’t need to tweek. Of course we’ve got August and September to discuss that. What I mostly want us to do is get ready for the next release. I’m hoping we can back door with “Telephone Road.” I need “Through a Window,” “Dayroom Daydreams,” and “The Difference” to be in tip top shape. Honestly, none of those songs made “TLCV” because they just weren’t ready. We’ve got amazing lyrics and music, but we’re lacking quality when it comes to those. I also want us to focus on “The Son of Norma.” I want that album to be our best yet, although it will be hard to top “TLCV.” Still I think with chemistry we’re developing amongst each other, and the technology that’s making things sound better and better, we can do it. I want “Telephone Road” to kind of lighten up the mood from two serious albums as “WDS” and “TLCV,” then we get back to business on “The Son of Norma.” I’m hoping to drop “Telephone Road” in April, and “the Song of Norma” in October. Of course I’m talking about April and October of next year. “The Send Button” will be our big “2010” album. I want a star cast and Hollywood sound effects on that album.

Once we get into that project, you’re going to see how powerful that project is. I want Fat Joe as Don Gabriel. I want Bash, Coast, Gotti, Powda, Pimpstress, all doing the parts written for them. We’d have to get a good unknown rapper to play the guy I shot in the butt, (the one who’s breaking bones in my face with brass knuckles.) I need an excellent little girl rapper, or even broadway performer, to play my daughter’s part. And the same for my son’s part. Broadway people are really good at staying on beat, and it’s nothing for them to rap a part. I’m thinking that the whole album will also be a film, like a gangster musical. They’ll be all kinds of hooks for Carolyn, Frankie J, Ronnie Spencer and other singers.

We could even put some big name rappers on some of the hooks. This project will literally take years to finish, and even then I’ll wish I could do more to it. But I believe by 2010, we’ll be ready to make another type of history with this project. We could also drop a fun album in 2010 (if God is willing on all this) with all the off the wall stuff I say on the newly discovered material.

Then in 2011, we’ll hit’em hard with another serious album with all the dope we’ll still have in our newly discovered material. I believe I’ll be calling the 2011 album “Night School.” It will be serious. Of course “The Last Chair Violinist,” “The Son of Norma,” and “Night School” will be accompanied by books with the same title. Believe it or not, even after “Night School,” we’ll still have two or three more top notch albums. Of course by this time, I’m expecting my college writing courses to have paid off and my book writing skills to be at the highest level of competition. I expect to be making films from each book and hope to have you guys working on soundtracks for motion pictures. If he Lord is willing, our future is very bright. I know the Lord is willing that our future be bright, but His plans could be different, so we’ll so how it all goes. God is wonderful and there is nothing bad in Him. We’ll just see what happens with all our trust in God.

I need Carolyn to send me all the lyrics to “TLCV.” I believe we’re putting those in the CD insert. I also need them so that I can show you how I want the album edited for the clean version. Make sure you send me the lyrics double spaced so that I can have room for corrections. If you guys have any ideas on what we can put in our CD artwork/inserts, please share those ideas. I send all my love to you and your loved ones. Stay strong.

 Carlos

-------------------------

Also, speaking of that same musical production team, I'm going to be starting a little mini-series with them soon about what production has been like for "The Last Chair Violinist." Yes, that's right, you'll get a behind-the-scenes look at how we do things in the studio!

More soon!

Much love from Dope House!

Updates from Central Command

What's up, Soldiers. I've got a few updates for you that you might like. Unfortunately, there is some good news and bad news in my updates. First I'll get to the bad news, since it's something we can't really do anything about and we'll just have to wait on.

The release of "The Last Chair Violinist" has been pushed back to November 18, instead of September 16, due to some discrepancies with some of the artwork and a few other things. We are also waiting on sample clearance for a few songs, and "Mexican Heaven" is among them, which is why you don't hear it playing on the music player on your front page. As soon as that song is cleared, it will be right back up there.

So, that's the bad news. It's not TOO bad, just that we are ending up waiting for the album a little bit longer than we normally would.

So on to the good news. Carlos sent me some updates on our Dope House Gear. He wanted to make some changes on our T-shirt design to the front, and has forwarded those on to Kyler, our T-shirt design guru. So before too long we should have some Army Gear.

I know many of you are wondering about the snippets, and when they will be ready, and how you will get them. Well, I can't answer the question for WHEN they will be ready right now. It's all going to depend on this artwork situation, which is what seems to keep backing us up. I'm hoping I can change that this week, but we'll have to wait and see.

I want everyone to do me a favor. Let's work on a little collaborative project. This is one I'm going to take to the forums. I'll see you guys there. More to come.

Much love from Dope House!

A Day in the Life

Hey Soldiers. Another day, another dollar at the Dope House. I'm starting to get pictures in from those of you who want to be represented on the MySpace page, so thank you for that. I haven't had any word from Carlos in about a week and a half as far as letters go, but he's probably really busy writing up plans for "Last Chair Violinist," or he could be working on his book.

I probably won't be active on the website or MySpace page too much today, so I wanted to take a moment to give you guys an inside look on what a day in the life of your fan club president is like. I usually get in to the office between nine or ten in the morning, although I came in a little later today.

The first part of my day is checking the e-mail, answering online fan questions, and adding people to the mailing list or fan club. Usually this takes about an hour, and I get a lot of interesting questions from fans. Obviously I can't talk about all of them here, but many people have basic questions like: Is SPM dead? When is he getting out? When's the new CD coming out? Is Powda around (ok, that's not a basic question, haha!)? Are there any artists in the Dope House?

As you can see, there are a lot of questions to go around. So I spend some time answering those, talking with fans, and letting them know what we've got going on.

After that, I usually try to make some updates to the websites (which are being worked on, by the way), add people to our MySpace page, and check out the forums to see what the Soldiers are up to.

From there, it's any number of things. Today's a special case. Today I will be answering the written mail I get from all our fans which are spread out over the U.S. This takes a long time, because I have to read each letter carefully, make notes about what the fans are asking, and then send out a reply letter. This usually takes me all day, but it's great getting to read all the comments that fans send in, and because we get a lot of mail from prison inmates, it's important to answer these guys.

So, that's what I'm doing today, answering our brothers by mail who can't get access to us online.

So if you don't hear from me today, I'm taking care of a different sector of our fans.

Talk to you soon, Soldiers.

Heath

Monday at the Dope House

What's up Soldiers. It's your fan club president here, back after a long weekend and ready to do it Dope House style. So, I found out why "Mexican Heaven" wasn't here when it was supposed to be. That's right, technology backfired, and it ended up.. well, I don't know where it went, but Pain came in this morning, downloaded it to my computer, and went on his way. We all owe him a big thank you.

Also, SLIP has posted on his MySpace page a Chopped and Screwed version of "Mexican Heaven." You might want to check that out if you are itching for something extra to listen to. They did a great job with this song, and we're excited to finally have it on the radio.

For those of you who might not be aware, we're re-establishing a presence on MySpace with the Dope House Army MySpace page. If you've got fan pics you want on the page, send them to my email, and I'll put them up there. Also, I'm working on extracting the code for the Dope House Army Layout, so you will be able to have the army layout as your own in the near future.

Also, this is something for any of you who have MySpace pages.. Check this out.

 <a href="http://www.thedopehousearmy.com"><img src="http://www.thedopehousearmy.com/dhasign.jpg"></a>

You can copy and paste the code into your MySpace profile and let people know you're representing the Dope House Army. and put it in any comments or messages you send.

Oh, and one more thing..... The high quality version of "Mexican Heaven" is playing on our front page.

That's all for now, Soldiers. I'm hoping Arthur has an update on those snippets for me some time soon. Till then, keep is street!

Heath

Dope House Army Mission: Acquire Mexican Heaven

I see some of you guys are wondering why "Mexican Heaven" isn't up here, and I have an answer for you. I've asked the rest of the guys I work for over at the studio for it several times. I don't seem to be able to get a good response from anyone, so there's a couple of things we can do if you guys want to hear a good quality version of this song.

I know you're all frustrated. And so am I. If you want a little explanation of how I get new material from other places, this is usually the way it goes.

In order for me to get access to a song, or to deliver it to you guys, I have to get permission from one of two places, Arthur or Carlos. Once they give me an approval, that means I get whatever I need to give to you guys. In this, I've gotten approval from Arthur to get a copy from our engineers, Pain and Slip. Those two are the main production team for Dope House right now, and they have the music.

So, until they decide to deliver something to me, I don't have a good copy of this song. I'm sorry it's taking so long. Believe me I didn't think it was going to take this long. I see a lot of you have already posted radio-recorded versions on YouTube and MySpace.

I think that's great. If the engineers won't let us hear it, we'll get our own versions. So, appreciate the initiative so far, and sorry I failed you guys on this one. I really wasn't expecting any of this to happen.

So, I have an idea. Any of you who have MySpace pages, head to our MySpace site at:

www.myspace.com/thedopehousearmy

You'll see a few people on the Top Friends list you might want to make a note of.

First of all, there is Jaime Pain Ortiz, or main engineer. Send him a message and tell him you're a fan and also in the Dope House Army and that you're waiting on him to deliver a high quality version of this song to me so you guys can hear it. Also tell hiim that he and Slip have done a great job with this song, and that we want to hear the best version we can possibly get, and not have to wait to hear it on Pocos Pero Locos.

Also, send the same message to SLIP. They are both on the top friends page. Let's let them know we want the song. Maybe a little push will help things out. I'm first and foremost a fan, so let's gather together and tell them we want that song.

It just might work.

The Latest News

All right, Soldiers. I went to visit Carlos this weekend, and here's where we stand on a few things. First of all, Carlos is aware of the T-shirt designs, and since it's something he originally put together, all I need is any updates from him he wants on them. I'm expecting a letter from him this week on that.

As far as snippet artwork, I think that that is ready to go, but there are some changes he wants to make in the promotional flyer, so again, waiting on a letter about that. Hate to say it, Soldiers, but about 75% of this is a waiting game. But, if it was any one of us putting OUR music out there, I think we'd want to make sure we did it right as well.

Some of you are wondering about "Mexican Heaven," and I'm hoping to see the .mp3 version of that song drop into my inbox today. If not today, then definitely tomorrow. And anything else the Soldiers want on that front page playlist, let me know. I've got all the albums right here, well, except for "Last Chair Violinist." Haha!

The "camo" shirt idea you guys were talking about is good, and definitely something we can look in to. When we get these first shirts pressed up, then we can start getting together the Dope House Army line after we get some more stuff to pass out.

So that's where we're at. Waiting to get "Mexican Heaven" to put on the playlist, waiting for final approval on the T-shirts, and want to be able to tell you guys soon on when the snippet's arriving. Also, check the forums, because I'm looking for some volunteers to help with our recruiting efforts on MySpace.

That's all for now. I'll have another update tomorrow!

Heath
